While he was a radio voice, Charlie was a blues-rock frontman. He founded and led The Charlie Brechtel Band, sharing stages and studio time with legends like Gregg Allman, John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, and Deacon Jones. Their biker blues sound was featured in Sons of Anarchy, Dead in 5 Heartbeats, and Charlie's own films.

Charlie was a fixture at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, where he held a residency at the legendary Buffalo Chip Campground. Year after year, he brought his biker blues to one of the biggest rallies on the planet, turning campground nights into unforgettable sets for thousands of riders.

Charlie wrote, directed, and starred in two independent biker movies that captured the soul of motorcycle culture. Rebel on the Highway (2018) — a good-versus-evil tale with a voodoo-soaked motorcycle race — features a soundtrack packed with Gregg Allman, Charlie Musselwhite, Deacon Jones, and Eddie Money.
